Some days are like that...

There is a wonderful children's book by Judith Viorst called "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very bad day". It is very cute to read about Alex's awful day and hear him moan that if things keep carrying on that way, he is "moving to Australia!" The book concludes with Alexander stating that running away won't make anything better because "my mom says some days are like that...even in Australia".

I woke up on Sunday morning and my boyfriend called, seemingly to have an argument with me. We argued for about 40mins about stupid things until I slammed down the receiver and went to go gather my thoughts in the bathroom. I was putting my hair up when my favourite clip broke in two! So what if it's from the No Frills dollar section? I really loved that thing. I opt to check my e-mail and much to my dismay discover that I have provided incorrect information for one of my grad school references. After a mini melt-down, I decide that everything will be alright. Shortly after, my brother knocks on the door to return my Christmas gift to him, saying that he won't really use it enough.

"Take the ipod back", he says. "I'll get it too sweaty at the gym."

This was a little bit of a blow considering how thoughtful I thought the gift was for an avid runner who loves music. Then, at the mall, the line at Apple was terribly long and the services specialist made fun of my e-mail address! (They e-mail you receipts these days)...

"Automaticbee? What grade did you come up with that in?"

..."well, first year university actually."

"So you're returning the ipod, huh? Sounds like your boyfriend broke up with you, *wink wink*"

"Actually, it's my brother, so he can't really dump me!" ("Weirdo", I say in my head).

Later, my mother assures me that the techie was just trying to pick me up, but I am feeling strange about it. It's a bit sad that I have my mother pointing this out to me and even sadder that I am letting that techie get to me way too much. We walk around the mall for a bit and I see the beautiful silk A.B.S Schwartz dress I paid an arm and a leg for...and it is now 30% off! Kill me.

It is safe to say at that point that you are having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. But hey! Some days are like that, even in Australia.
